Constituency Report - April 2025
This monthly constituency update complements my weekly Westminster Update, highlighting the great work happening across Stirling and Strathallan.
This month, I held my first coffee morning in Raploch, met with local farmers at Argaty Farm to discuss the future of agriculture, and brought local organisations together to talk about child poverty. I also hosted a Dad’s Meet Up to support the campaign for extended paternity leave. Inside, you’ll find updates on my casework, details of my next coffee morning in Dunblane, and how you can get involved in the issues that matter most to you.
If you’d like to read more, there are links throughout the newsletter, along with a round-up of the articles, available on the news section of my website
I write two regular newsletters: one focused on what’s happening in Parliament and the other covering updates from the constituency, so you can stay informed on the issues that matter both nationally and locally. I hope you find this informative.

Celebrating Farming - Visit to Argaty Farm with NFU Scotland
Last week, I met with Mark Donald, regional chair for Forth and Clyde for the National Farmers Union (NFU) Scotland, alongside local farmers at Argaty Farm near Doune. I spoke with them about ongoing issues with the Farming and Agriculture sector and how I can help within my role. I committed to continued conversations with the NFUS and farmers back in December, and I continue to be in frequent contact with them.
After our meeting, Mark took me on a tour around the farm. You can watch a full video of Mark and me discussing the visit here.
Helping Constituents - Raploch Coffee Morning
This month, I held my first coffee morning in Raploch, where I had the opportunity to speak with constituents on various topics, including local and national issues. Such as accessing to local sporting facilities for younger people to the UK economy. Thank you to everyone that came along to raise their issues.
These coffee mornings are a great chance for you to let me know what matters to you and to speak to me in person. If you would like to come along to a future coffee morning, follow this link for details of upcoming events and the form to register interest: www.chriskane.net/coffee
Celebrating Fathers - Dad’s Meet up
Earlier in the month, I hosted a Dad’s Meet Up in partnership with the Dad Shift campaign, which is campaigning for extended paternity leave. I met with dads from Stirling and Strathallan who work with the campaign to celebrate the introduction of Statutory Paternity Leave by the last Labour government 22 years ago.
As a father, my children and I benefited from this leave when they were born, and research shows that over 4 million children have benefited from having their father at home in the first two weeks. I was grateful to speak to other dads about their experiences with Paternity leave and how I can support them. This Government has further protected Paternity leave, making it a ‘day one right’ when you start a new job, thanks to the Employment Rights Bill.
Discussing Policy - Stirling & Strathallan Poverty Roundtable
I met with members from the Stirling Citizens’ Advice Bureau (CAB) and Start Up Stirling, who run eight food banks across Stirling. We had a roundtable discussion about poverty and what can be done to support these organisations which help those in poverty, and what can be done to begin solving these issues.
Tackling poverty and ensuring that everyone in Stirling and Strathallan can succeed is central to my politics. I was pleased to see the Child Poverty Taskforce established back in July 2024, with the full strategy to be published shortly. I have urged the Scottish Secretary to ensure there is a close collaboration with the Scottish Government and the voluntary sector to deliver real results for young people in Stirling and Strathallan.
Supporting Campaigns - Online Safety for Young People
Like many, I was gripped by Netflix’s crime drama Adolescence, which follows the story of a 13-year-old boy who commits violence against a female classmate after being cyberbullied on social media. Based on various real-life stories, the series has brought the dangers of how we interact with technology into the limelight.
That is why I was glad to support constituent Claire’s campaign this month to Prohibit Social Media for under-16s. As a primary school teacher, she knows firsthand the dangers of social media and how it affects our young people. In my role, I want to ensure that the root causes of these damaging effects to young people are properly scrutinised and legislation is brought in to support this.
Your voice matters. If you have a local or national campaign that you want me to hear about, please contact me using this form.
Helping Constituents – Casework
This month, my office responded to over 600 emails and letters, closing over 150 constituent cases. The top topics included international affairs, health services and crime, civil law and rights. While my priority remains helping those with individual cases first, my team and I are working to respond to policy questions more quickly. Thank you for your patience as we work through the backlog—your concerns matter, and I appreciate your engagement.
Keep updated. I post my activities in Parliament and around the constituency on Facebook. Click here to follow.
In the News
The news section of my website is a great way to keep up to date on the issues I’ve been campaigning on recently. In the last month, you can read:
NHS Forth Valley Update – I received an update from NHS Forth Valley, where they released information on the age of their hospital equipment
State Pension Boost - I celebrated a boost to thousands of state pensions in Stirling and Strathallan thanks to the Government’s commitment to the triple lock.
Killin Pump Track - I supported Killin Sports and Recreation Hub to promote fundraising for their Pump Track project.
That’s all for this month’s constituency roundup. I issue two newsletters: a weekly roundup of what is happening in Westminster, and a monthly roundup of what is happening within the constituency. The Westminster Report will be out at its usual time this Friday.
Please share this newsletter with anybody in Stirling and Strathallan you think would benefit from keeping up to date with my work representing constituents both at home and in London.
Until next time,
Chris Kane,
MP for Stirling and Strathallan
